The Story Behind the Programme
Seonad Cook began her career as a teacher of mathematics and computing. It was here, in the classroom, that the pattern first became visible. By creating an environment in which students believed in themselves and what they were capable of, her students consistently achieved top results in national examinations across Scotland. The biggest barrier to learning was rarely intelligence or ability. It was what people believed to be true about themselves — and what they therefore believed was possible.
That insight followed her as she led a school department from 1990 and as she led the design and implementation of a nationally recognised professional development initiative to upskill 4,500 teachers in Scotland. It followed her to the Republic of Ireland in 1997, where she was appointed within six months as Director of Professional Development and Assistant Director of the National Centre for Technology in Education — leading the development and implementation of Ireland's national educational technology strategy to upskill 48,000 teachers, completing it two years ahead of schedule. The Irish Times reported it as the single biggest training programme ever delivered in the Republic of Ireland.
From 1999, the work expanded internationally — with the World Bank Group, developing a national educational technology strategy for 250,000 teachers in Malaysia and leading professional development for an online initiative across 25 countries. With Enterprise Qatar from 2011, leading the development and implementation of Qatar's national Enterprise Education Initiative, 'Sport and Business', in collaboration with the Qatar Olympic Committee. In The Gambia, West Africa, from 2012, leading the national professional development programme to upskill 3,000 professionals and developing the country's National Qualifications Framework.
From 2015 — eight years with Follett International, one of the USA's largest education technology corporations — generating new multi-million dollar revenue streams across China, South East Asia and the USA. Throughout her career, Seonad has not just delivered transformation — she has developed, implemented and continually assessed the learning architectures that make it possible. In 2021, she founded Executive Growth Coaching — bringing over 40 years of expertise into one focused body of work. Every principle she teaches she has lived and applied herself.
